Standing on a busy street corner, in San Francisco, in the Mission district, near Medicine for Nightmares where a poetry reading with Ava and Ping would soon begin

Now this was in the time of Covid, so we had to wear masks inside, which is why we were outside, enjoying the night air, and the electric atmosphere in the turned on Mission neighborhood

sharing voices, words, news, thoughts, and laughter
sharing eyes, faces, physical presence, and auras

Standing on a corner in the Mission district was what I’d been hoping for/ see i’d had the idea to come early and it all worked out cause i got to hang out with Ping and Paul and other poets
who happened to be there; like Tony and his stories of Egypt and the Coptic enlivened our convo for a while

now I was born and raised in a city but i been living in a small town and i miss the city life i miss the strangers all around
the mystery of the other stimulates me and my imagination

Standing on the corner in the Mission district
was a wish granted me
i’d prayed to my goddess, Circe please make something happen
and in true Circe fashion she did make something happen
Circe sprinkled divine into ordinary
